Handsome Titanium Block
Arney Road Kitchen
The vision was to create an integrated contemporary box using a variety of texturual elememts, to juxtapose against an original and traditional ‘white space’.
As a true entertaining area, the kitchen acts as the central hub within the surrounding social space of the open dining and casual living. It was created so the cook could feel connected to all the spaces, looking out in a teppanyaki style cooking environment.
The island features a few key components – plate stainless steel as the working bench for the hob and prep area. The undemount sink is only noticeable by the addition of raw brass tapware from Perrin & Rowe, which connects to the handles used on the tall cabinetry. This is all staged on an oversized and grounding box of ‘titanium gold’ granite. The leathered finish makes for a tactile surface and highlights the white and gold quartz veining. Matt black cabinetry surrounds the showback and inside of the island, while a floating timber slab sits offset as a connector to all the elements and creates the seating area.
The contemporary and eclectic ‘Carina Chandelier’ by Charles Lethaby anchors a key feature overhanging the kitchen island. The use of gold elements is subtly repeated throughout.
The floor to ceiling built-in cabinetry made of deep chocolate-charcoal stained oak with a wire-brushed finish creates a solid backdrop.
